AFSC Junior Board

AFSC’s legacy leadership skills development program known as “Big/Little” has now been expanded into what we now call the Junior Board.

The AFSC Junior Board was created for club members who are 12-18 years old that wish to serve our club while simultaneously developing leadership skills by mentoring our young/upcoming skaters from the Junior Club and Chaparral Ice’s “Learn to Skate” program.  AFSC Junior Board members actively volunteer at all club events, filling jobs such as runners, accounting assistance, registration liaisons, award management, and other areas as required.

The Junior Board is organized to provide leadership opportunities through typical officer roles including President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and News Historians. The members of the Junior Board learn responsibility, compassion, dedication, time management, and most of all integrity through good sportsmanship.  In addition to assisting with club-hosted competitions and events, the Junior Board will sponsor club parties for younger club members, host fundraising events (such as a Skate-a-Thon), provide good luck incentives and posters for their peers who are competing, plus take an active role in planning the club’s annual New Year’s party.

Our Junior Board is a solid and vivacious group of individuals, consistently demonstrating strong moral character and setting high expectations for each of their functions.  These members of the Austin Figure Skating Club are truly passionate role models for others to emulate and learn from.
